Unfortunately we are cancelling the State Finals due to the COVID-19 situation.
That said, here are a few things we will be doing.
Again, we cannot convey our disappointment that the current situation has put us in this situation. It was a tough decision to cancel the tournament but we feel best for all. Hopefully this will ultimately blow over and we can start fresh next season. Please all, be safe and considerate of others.
That said, here are a few things we will be doing.
- SCHOLARSHIPS ARE NOW POSTED. After finding out that we had an unusually large 'dividend' paid to us in SMART along with a higher than in the past amount in 'expired' funds we are pleased to be able to pay scholarship dollars that would have been awarded at State to zone winners. We also paid ALL bowlers that qualified for State a scholarship prize. NOTE that prizes are proportional to the number of participants in any given zone/division and also included in each zone additional funds raised from shirt and/or 50/50 proceeds. So scholarships in the divisions that had fewer participants WILL be smaller than the larger ones. It's only fair to pay money put in by the bowlers in a division back to those bowlers proportionally. The total prize fund is over $130,000 mainly due to the high amount of expired funds and 'dividend' this year. Next year could be a little lean as I would suspect our 'dividend' will not be anywhere close to what we just received.
- We will continue with some of our past practices which will include
- We will still award medals to the top three in each division in each zone
- All potential state finalists will receive a commemorative state tournament pin just as in the past
- All scholarship winners will receive a certificate of scholarship just as in the past
- It will take some time to order/receive pins and medals due to COVID (they are ordered, just a matter of us receiving them). We will mail these directly to the bowlers. With approx 685 bowlers, this will take a while once we get them in so please be patient on this
