Forms will soon be mailed to all bowling centers. League Qualifying Window will be October 8th-21st. Zone tournaments will be held in January for the U12 division and in February for U20 division (working to not conflict with IHSA events and to allow IHSA bowlers to participate). Your zone director will be contacting your program with those specifics. Click here for a listing of the Zone Tournament Managers. The State Finals will be held the weekends of May 4th-5th, 2012 for the U8 and U12 divisions at Fox Bowl in Wheaton, IL and May 17th-19th, 2012 for the U15 and U20 divisions at Four Seasons in Freeport, IL.
About The Tournament
USBC no longer provides league level kits to associations. The League Level Handbook can be found here. NEW this season are the following divisions:
- U8 Boys/U8 Girls-Bowlers whose birthdate is 8/1/2004 or later
- U12 Boys/U12 Girls-Bowlers whose birthdate is 8/1/2000 thru 7/31/04
- U15 Boys/U15 Girls-Bowlers whose birthdate is 8/1/1997 thru 7/31/00
- U20 Boys/U20 Girls-Bowlers whose birthdate is 8/1/1992 thru 7/31/97
NOTE that this is no longer a handicap event, all bowlers will be bowling scratch within their divisions. Bowlers do have the opportunity to "bowl up" if they wish. Click here for the waiver. It must be filled out and turned in PRIOR to the qualifying window to your league coordinator.
There will once again be no National tournament for our bowlers to advance to. Our top boy and girl in the U15 and U20 division will advance to the 2013 North Pointe Junior Gold Championships to be held in Detroit, MI in July 2013. Because of this, we have worked very hard to identify fund raising opportunities and are proud to announce that last year we awarded nearly $80,000 in scholarship moneys between the zone and state tournaments.
The tournament is a benefit of membership to all USBC Youth Division certified bowlers. For just being a member of USBC Youth, athletes receive the opportunity to:
- compete with other youth in an international tournament.
- compete with no extra cost at the league level of competition.
- compete with other youth of similar age for scholarships.
- Win berths to the 2013 North Pointe Junior Gold Championships in July 2013 (Detroit, MI) to compete for approximately $250,000 in scholarships available to all athletes at the 2013 North Pointe Junior Gold Championships.
Tournament Overview
The Pepsi Cola Youth Bowling Championships begins with league level qualifying. Bowling centers with USBC Youth Division certified leagues are automatic qualifying sites. Since the tournament is a benefit of a membership, there is no entry fee at this level. If you happen to misplace your packet, or did not receive one, please click here to obtain all information that was sent to the centers.
League level qualifying will be October 8-21, 2012. Zone tournaments for the U8 and U12 divisions will be held mostly in January 2013. Most zone tournaments for the U15 and U20 divisions will be held in late February.
Qualifying competition is held in divisions based on the bowler's birthdate. The divisions are:
- U8 Boys/U8 Girls-Bowlers whose birthdate is 8/1/2004 or later
- U12 Boys/U12 Girls-Bowlers whose birthdate is 8/1/2000 thru 7/31/04
- U15 Boys/U15 Girls-Bowlers whose birthdate is 8/1/1997 thru 7/31/00
- U20 Boys/U20 Girls-Bowlers whose birthdate is 8/1/1992 thru 7/31/97
*ALL BOWLERS REGARDLESS OF DIVISION WILL BE BOWLING SCRATCH*
The U15 and U20 division winners at the state finals will receive berths into the 2013 North Pointe Junior Gold Championships in Detroit, MI. These athletes will have their entry fee paid for. They will also each receive a travel stipend of $500 to be used for the event. The advancers must be Gold program members, or be eligible and purchase a membership prior to the championships. There is no requirement to be a Gold program member to enter at the local or state level.
